The Communication Science Laboratory (Inui-Suzuki Lab)’s end-of-year party was held at the “Shikisai” restaurant. Conversation flourished between lab members, family members, StepQI and Creative Engineering students, new members planning to join next year, and others, even between those who usually don’t have much opportunity to chat. A few Lab members gave an instrumental performance which further improved the festive atmosphere. Thank you for a great year, and we are very much looking forward to the next one!

青葉山キャンパスの「レストラン四季彩」にて、乾・鈴木研究室の忘年会を行いました。研究室メンバーに加え、メンバーのご家族やStepQI、創造工学の学生さん、来年度からの新メンバーに他機関の研究者の方なども参加し、普段は話す機会の少ない相手とも話に花を咲かせました。また、研究室の有志による楽器演奏もあり、とても盛り上がりました。 1年間ありがとうございました。また来年もよろしくお願いします。

Dr. Motoki Satō from PFN gave a lecture on interpretable semi-supervised adversarial NMT and everyday life at PFN.(MiCS).

Dr. Hirokatsu Kataoka and Ryōta Suzuki from the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), and Shintarō Yamamoto from Waseda University presented on “Knowing the ‘now’ and following trends in computer vision”, “Analyzing the CVPR2018 complete readout challenge: community-driven comprehensive paper survey method cvpaper.challenge”, and “AI and human cooperative paper reading”, respectively. Associate Professor Suzuki Jun received the NeurIPS 2018 Outstanding Reviewers award. This award is granted to the top 200 contributing reviewers (out of 3261!) at NeurIPS 2018.

Professor Kentarō Inui has been appointed to the General Chair of the international conference EMNLP-IJCNLP 2019, one of the top conferences of NLP. EMNLP-IJCNLP 2019 will be held in Hong Kong from November 3rd to November 7th.

乾健太郎教授が、国際会議EMNLP-IJCNLP 2019のGeneral Chairに就任しました。EMNLPは、自然言語処理分野のトップ会議の一つです。EMNLP-IJCNLP 2019 は、11月3日～7日に香港で開催されます。
